A NEW Book on Carl Barks

August 16, 2020
Between 1966 and early 1971, Barks completed over 184 paintings, more, by a wide margin, than any later period of his painting career. These paintings, which form a visual record of his search for a new artistic identity, are from the only period of Barks’s lifetime of work that hasn’t been fully explored – until now.

New Painting: Fawn in the Shade

August 19, 2020
A new painting, 7x5, oil on Masonite. There is a herd of deer in Kings Forest where I live, that like to spend summer days eating my lawn and lounging under the juniper trees.

New Painting: Sunset On Mt. Bachelor

August 17, 2020
A new painting, 5x7, oil on Masonite. This scene is only a mile from where I live. In the summer, thunderstorms come ripping through the High Desert, creating some amazing skies. Sadly, all of these open, desert spaces in Bend are filling up with housing developments. Soon, they will all be gone.

New Painting: A Concert for the Cash

August 10, 2020
An original painting, 16x12 inches, oil on Masonite. I've actually been working on this painting, on and off, for several years. I finally got around to finishing it. It's based on a cover by Carl Barks: Uncle Scrooge #5.

WIP: When No One's Looking

A new painting, 20x16, oil on Masonite. This is a work in progress: the drawing has been transferred to Masonite and the first coat of paint is almost done. Still has a long way to go..

New Painting: The Golden Christmas Tree #2

August 17, 2020
A new painting, 18x14, oil on Masonite. This painting, commissioned by a Barks collector, is finished! Once it dries, I'll add a few coats of varnish, add the information to the back, then it will be done.
